FSC Amilo XL 3220W 'Rainbow Tracing' Problem.

Bought the Fujitsu Siemens Amilo XL 3220W from Misco the other day.

Looks like a bargain, as is really. TN panel, no worries for me, I play games, I like the response time and really couldn't care less about the slight banding of gradients.

I do however care about whatever it is affecting my screen which I can only describe as a rainbow trace. It is a lot more visible on games than it is using Windows although it is still present and is at its most noticible when closing a window. It occurs when objects on the screen move or change suddenly when things are stationary or not moving too fast, it appears OK.

As it's hard to describe, I have created a video of the effect by filming the screen with my camera whilst in EVE-Online. The effect you see is very visible to me and others and is not just because of the FPS of the video. I have also taken a still from the video to really get across what I am experiencing - it makes playing games extremely distracting.

My old Belinea 19" WS had no such problems and was also a TN.

Setup:

I am running the monitor off of a GeForce 8800 GTS 512 (n92) via a direct DVI to DVI cable. (It has the same problem with a VGA to VGA interface.)
The monitor is set to 60Hz through the control panel but it does the same at both 50Hz and 59Hz)

I'd be really grateful if anyone could shed some light on the problem. The only references to this sort of problem always points fo a single chip DLP, which this clearly isn't but suggests that the RGB is out of sync or the backlight is not refreshing fast enough? I'm not a mega techie, but I personally think its a fauly as opposed to a configuration problem.

I will either return for a replacement or return for a different monitor, depending on your views (will prob give Fujitsu a call too).
