GPU cooler advice.

Any real recommendations for an effective heatsink+fan for a 9800GTX(not +)? I found the fan to be quite loud and annoying on load so want to replace it, budget around £20-£25 so any recomendations appreciated. Also, any tips for gpu fitting is great as im new to that side of the mounting .

The Akasa Vortexx Neo will be a good choice but will be much noisier at idle though as the fan is a fixed speed one. I use one on my HD4830:

Also do you know how good the 4770 is vs the gts 250 or even the older 9800GTX? Might be better off trying for a change.

I have an SFF so there is no space for a controller and I need to run the cooler at max speed otherwise the card will run too hot for my liking during load. I use the PSU fan and the graphics card fan to vent the hot air from the case. It would be nice if the fan was PWM.

Hmm seeing it compared with the gts250 (the 4770) doesnt really show it in a favourable light imo, it seems to perform about 10fps less on alot of games(if not more) so ill probably leave that. I looked at that vortexx cooler, seems good and didnt notice the price! really want that arctic cooling but dont know if ill be upgrading my card so would want to move it along lol. Anyone know similar coolers to the vortexx but just a bit better or something and around £20?. Also any ideas when the 5000 series out? Im guessing june/july?.

Bear in mind that the HD4770 will OC by around 20% core and 30% mem leaving it quite a bit faster.

Looking at the first link of reviews you posted cat, it really does make the 4770 look like a GREAT card!. Looking at the power usage it uses 20watts less than the 9800GTX+ on idle and 60less on load, i have the original gtx so its probably more like 35/75 So now the decision...... wait till june for dx11 cards or get the 4770? Any real benefits from the dx11?
