Is this a decent step up from a 9500GT 1GB?

It plays the games i want (cod2) but i want to get back into cod4 and on the 9500GT if i have every think on low i get around 20-100-ish FPS on cod4 but seeing as i have the money, i want a step up to play most games on high-med and very playable frame rates. (cod4, bioshock, cod2, world in conflict) mainly those.

i had that in mind it seems pretty good for the price.

    Get an HD4770:

    http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/d...%204770&d=

It consumes more power than an HD4670 or a 9500GT although it has much lower peak power consumption than the HD4830 and higher performance too! It maybe able to run off your existing 300w PSU but it would be advisable to upgrade to a decent 400w(I have suggested some to you in previous threads).

The HD4770 is much faster than a 9800GT also and consumes less power than it too.

Re: Is this a decent step up from a 9500GT 1GB?

I got a 4670 for my wife's PC and it is a decent enough card, but I only chose that one because she has a 300W PSU and limited space (a Shuttle).

The 4770 though looks well worth the 20 quid extra, I would say save up a little more.

Some Call of Duty benchies here.

Re: Is this a decent step up from a 9500GT 1GB?

There is also the HD4750 coming out which is basically the GDDR3 version of the HD4770. Here is a preview:

Load power consumption seems to be similar to the HD4670 but its performance is much higher.
