Cracked Screen Repair?

I thought this was the best place to put this seeing as its screens/moniters etc i have been offerd a 50" tv for 60 pounds but it has a bullet hole looking crack in the screen, not like its atucally penetrated the screen its just like, oh i cant explain it but i have been asking around in local shops and googled but i cant find anywhere that repairs screens just wonderd if anyone on here knew anything

Depends on whether there is a glass screen in front of the panel - if there is, it may be repairable, if it is the front of the panel itself, probably not. There are some specialist repair companies if you google for them - if it is a well known brand, seek their advice.

If you can live with the crack, buy it - if you can't, I wouldn't touch it as repairs are likely to be expensive, at at the end of the day - it is still seconf hand with an unknown history. Are you buying it because you genuinely want/need a 50" TV then buy a new one, if you are buying it because it may be a bargain and you can afford to lose £60, then it may be worth a punt. See if you can knock the price down to £40 - not so much to lose if it is unrepairable!

(I guess what I'm saying is that if I were about 18 to 25, I'd probably buy it, and then regret it and it would collect dust in the corner - with the benefit of experiemnce, I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole!)

have a look, if you can cause pressure marks when you push the corner furthest from the crack dont buy it (to avoid more damage) if u find its a glass sheet, all you need do is remove the glass and you got a good screen.

Replacing the glass will probably be quite expensive. And the shipping cost for 50" TV will be quite considerable.

I think the reason for selling that TV is that the cost of getting rid of the TV is quite high. (Its bulky and it most likely have hazardous material and have to be disposed professionally.

If you have the strength and a suitable car to take the actual TV straight from the seller (I would guess something around 40~60kg) and the panel is definitely not broken, definitely worth a punt.

If the panel is damaged, don't bother. You'll have to pay even more to get rid of it.

unboxed a 50" current model Panasonic is 30KG, and should fit in the back of an average hatch back. a 42" unboxed goes easy into my MK5 Golf. Boxed it's a bit more of a squeeze, but it fits pretty much perfecty and doesn't move about (i have one in the back of mine right now, thats how i know)

Well its in a local shop. so its not a problem to get. when i looked at it, it was off and there was no crack in the screen, i belieave it will only appear when its turned on, the reason is apparantly becuase someone booted it, its one of these shops just sell random crap that people bring in.

i would get them to turn it on and see what it is like first, but i think i would be tempted to go for it.

worth a punt as they say. £60 isn't a lot of money.

if you cant see it when its off then its bound to have cracked the TFT, no wonder its £60..

Wel yeah the main question was can it be repaired and for how much, seeing as its only 60 pounds the cost of reparing it still should make it a hole of a lot cheeper than if it was working/brand new

Highly unlikely it will be cheap. I was living in hall and saw the hall's TV got broken. It cost more to repair than to buy a new one. Didn't matter much though, UNITE was paying for it back then.

It might be cheap to replace it somewhere in China. The cost of the panel is not that expensive but they charge you 10s of hours of labour cost for checking / replacing the panel it is NOT economical HERE to fix it.

With the panel itself cracked, it is a severe damage . Buying it would be a pure waste of money.
