I'm looking for a 24" 1920X1200 monitor for gaming. Narrowed it down to either the Benq G2400 or the Samsung T240.
What are your thoughts ? Which of these would you take, or would you go for a completely new choice ?

What is your budget - NEC do a very nice 24" monitor at about £360 (+VAT)

Only question I would ask depending on your budget - do you really need a 24 inch when you consider that there are more 22/23 inch monitors appearing with a 1920x1*** resolution these days?
I have just bought an LG 22 inch monitor that has a native resolution of 1920x1080 and I would expect that a slightly smaller monitor would save you a few quid?
My budget is ~£250 (as this the amount my wife just blew on a new outfit <grin>)
I don't <i>need</i> a 24", but I thought generally bigger is better. 1920x1200 24" seems to be a sweet spot.
Would the 22 or 23 make a huge difference ?

To be honest, I went with the LG mainly because of the good deal I got on it - compared to the Samsung that Matty posted, it doesn't have as high a res but it also has an HDMI input as well as the usual VGA and DVI
I was also able to see it set up and working before I left the shop so I had no concerns about dead pixels either
Like I mentioned in my other thread, I haven't had a chance to test it out properly yet seeing as I only picked it up at the weekend but it does play CS:S fine with no problems at all (although I wouldn't expect any problems with something like that to be honest)
I will be trying out a few other games to see how it handles them at the higher res, but to be honest, I can't see me needing a new graphics card just yet for the games I tend to play
Having said that, if you have a budget of £250 then I would expect you could get a pretty decent monitor for that price :)

No problem, once I get some time (probably over the weekend) I will try out COD4 and Assassins Creed and let you know how they run - not bought anything new recently so can't try too much as they are the newest I have got I think... lol
The G2400 is a nice monitor! But I presume you'd be talking about the G2400WD correct?
The monitor supports: DVI, HDMI, and D-Sub.
Includes 1920x1200 resolution or commonly known as 16:10.
If you were looking for 16:9 mapping (1920x1080), I'd recommend the BenQ E2400HD instead, as it is 16:9.
Both monitors will do 2ms GTG. I believe the only major difference between the 2 monitors is that the E2400HD is 16:9 and has x2 one watt built-in speakers, while the G2400WD is 16:10 and does not include built in speakers.
Both are great looking into. Both are also extremely popular as a gamers choice!

Apologies for the late reply... things have been a bit busier than I expected this week and I spent most of the weekend out on my motorbike making the most of the weather lol
Played a bit of CS:S, HL2, Tomb Raider Anniversary and not noticed any stuttering of framerates whilst playing these - I know they aren't the most demanding games but my machine seems to handle them ok
I will check out the other couple of games I mentioned (A. Creed and COD4) when I get the chance and let you know how these play as well
The only thing I am still getting used to slightly is the extra real-estate lol
/me imagines CS:S stuttering with a G92 card :D
I'm mostly playing L4D and ETQW so that sounds like the 8800 can drive them with reasonable framerates..
