    Question 22" Monitor Recomendation Please

Hello Hexus - I currently am using a Samsung Syncmaster 226BW? It's not bad, but when viewing/editing pictures it can be a lil' washed out and on the cool side. So I'm after a screen around the same size, which has great image quailty, colour reproduction and contrast. Can it be found for under 200 quid? A response time of under 5ms and HDMI would be a added bonus.

I'm planning to use a new screen in a dual setup to increase productivity - it would be the primary screen.

    Any suggestions are much appreciated.

The Dell 2209WA is an IPS panel.

    Apparently the best 22inch ever.

    Re: 22" Monitor Recomendation Please

Yes, the BenQ E2200HD is 16:9, just google it, haha.

Yes, I've heard much about the Dell 2209WA, but that is a 16:10" monitor. Depends on what you want. But the biggest difference between the Dell 2209WA (which is a great monitor), and the BenQ E2200HD is that the BenQ has HDMI output while the Dell 2209WA does not.

The BenQ and Dell I would say ride along each other on performance. Okay, the Dell has an IPS panel so it have better viewing angles, but unless you're a real designer or tend to watch your monitor from different angles (for your own wierd reasons), there is no bonus of having 'better' viewing angles. And to be honest, if you were a real designer you wouldn't go for this low end IPS panel version of the Dell. It is just a smart way for companies to market their products with small upgrades (commonly known as gimicks), to stand out from their competitors every 3 to 6 months hahha. But then again, every company has this strategy. So in other words. Go for what you really need.

I bought the BenQ E2200HD myself because I wanted the HDMI connectivity. Hope that clarifies some things = )

No that's understandable. I really would like HDMI myself also because I'm thinking of gettign a PS3. I will maybe splash out more later on a couple of panels (both the same). As I'll be using this for now with the SyncMaster, which is so so.

    Re: 22" Monitor Recomendation Please

I believe BenQ also have G and T series which offer relatively the same specs, but are bit cheaper because they don't have the onboard 1-2 watt speakers lol. I think they're cheaper by 10 bucks? I'm not sure which series it was either. I was browsing their website once and saw. They all seem to be offering relatively same stats, 1080p, 2ms~5ms response time, and other specs. Some come with speakers, some don't have HDMI, some have Webcam. You'll have to browse through the various series and versions within each series.

If you're editing pictures you want an IPS or PVA panel if you can afford one. Much better colour reproduction than standard (cheap) TN panels. Something like the HP 2275W perhaps? That'll set you back £235 direct from HP (use Quidco to get 8% cashback, plus HPSHARE voucher to get 10% off).

Or Dell do some decent IPS panels. Watch out for them changing the specs underneath you though.

Check the reviews at tft central for some likely candidates...

    Re: 22" Monitor Recomendation Please

IMHO it would be better to go with a monitor having an IPS,PVA or MVA panel instead of a TN panel. The better colour reproduction and viewing angles are worth it TBH.

The Dell 2209WA and HP 2275W look like good choices. The Dell has an E-IPS panel whereas the HP has a PVA panel from what I have read. I would probably go for the Dell unless the HP has a much better backlight.

S-IPS > all else. Using both an S-IPS and TN screen together, the difference is remarkable.
