Scrapped all ideas about a new hard drive.
i have a budged of 70-75 pounds MAX
i just dont know what to get.
the 4830?
or possibly the 3870?
ohh when i finally have the money for a mid/high graphics card i dont know what to pick.
4770 if you can find one, 4830 or 4850 if not.
You're running a bit tight with that 300W PSU if you get the 4830 or 4850 though.
The transparent bag of ****? lol
As for the 4770, not in stock there isn't. The 4770s have been out of stock for over a week due to batch failures at AMD.
The HD4850 is the best bet for the price unless you get one of the HD4870 cards which supposedly can be had for under £100.
If you are getting an HD4830 Ebuyer has one for around £65 which has very low idle power consumption:

Oh dear,
i went for it and baught the XFX 4830 512MB from scan for 75, bugger i could have saved a tenner
but never the less, i hope this to be a big step up from a GDDR2 9500GT
if its not, im going to cancel the order from scan. i looked at a graphics card hierarchy on toms hardware and it seems quite high up compeard to the 9500GT
I would be really apprecative if some one could tell me that i have spent 75 pounds on this card and it will give a massive preformace increase.
cheers.
The HD4830 will bend the 9500GT over a table. It's a rival to the 9800GT, which is well over double, probably more than triple the performance.
If you bought the 4830 from Scan you presumably got free next day postage, which ebuyer would charge you £10 for. Their free delivery is not guaranteed next day (though it sometimes is)
I personally would of waited for a 4770 to be in stock, they beat the 4830 in benchmarks, run cooler & pull less power and are only 3 pound more then you paid.
As a rough estimate a 9600GT 512mb gets 50 FPS in farcry 2 at 1680X1050 a 4830 gets 58.3fps where as a 4770 gets 68.7fps.
Couldn't find a benchmark for your exact card so went with Hexus review of the 4770.

The 4770s are better performers by a substantial margin, but they can be more expensive to get hold of, and are currently built to a lower standard than the 4830 (if that matters to you). Ultimately the 4770 is the better product, but I wouldn't lose any sleep about owning a 4830. They're still admirable cards.
Plus you can pick up a 4830 for just over £55 if you wanted one, though i don't think they have many left and it may be a misprice.

You should do, there are a fair few things I run at 2560x1600 on mine.
Well im one to talk really im running a 8800m GTS, which is basically a crippled version of the desktop one lol Pretty sure a 4830 would whoop its arse.
