flashing pixels count as (i think) 3 sub-pixel errors.

count up the dead pixels you have and their classification (ISO classification 13460-2, google for it). if you screen fails class B, you can RMA it. a housemate RMA'd an Iiyama which failed spec & got a perfect replacement.

remember specs are per 1000000 pixels, you have 1280x1024 pixels

in total i have 5 dead pixels now on this tft but 2 of them arent realy that bad ,,u have to either be on a black background to see them realy but the other 3 are clearly noticeable ,#1 the main 1 is bright blue (all the time) but hidden by blue taskbar in windows, but in gaming etc its very noticeable,,#2 which is within 4 inches of #1 is the 1 that flashes (changes colour) and is also very noticeable at all times,,and #3 is within an inch of #2 and also sticks out like a sore thumb on white backgrounds etc,,the other 2 are in each top corner of the screen but like i said before i wasnt realy bothered with them as there not so visible!!

directhex can u explain a little more about ure housemates dead pixels, how many did he have before he sent it back etc,and were they similar to mine ,or did a few of his flash/change colour or something,i realy wanna send it back as i do not feel comfortable spending £300 on a tft that has so many dead pixels in such a short time of owning it (im actually dredding the next couple of weeks if they develop as fast as they are) and to say the least im pretty dissapointed as i was expecting maybe 1-2 at the most in a year and already have 5 in 12 days

"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""originally posted by directhex: remember specs are per 1000000 pixels, you have 1280x1024 pixels.

could u possibly explain this alittle more please,im absolutely poo at maths?

The ISO spec (incidentally I think directhex may have made a typo; THG says it's ISO 13406-2, at http://www.tomshardware.com/display/...pixels-06.html) basically says how many dead pixels are allowed per million pixels. You have, say, 5 dead pixels on your screen of 1280x1024 = 1,310,720 pixels. So divide 5 by 1,310,720 to get the number of dead pixels per pixel, then multiply by 1,000,000 and you have ~3.81 dead pixels per million.

That's probably a bit simplified, as in practise you have to work out how many of your dead spots are pixels and how many are sub-pixels. The table at the THG link above should then help you decide whether you have a case for an RMA or not.

Sorry I can't be more help; I have zero real-world experience with TFTs, so I'm open to corrections...
