ti4200 drivers
Hi.
Finally found my way to the right place for this post :)
I have been using the latest nvidia drivers for quite some time (53.**), but have noticed that in benchmarking i lose about 3k or some marks....(3dmark2k1) than when i ran with the older drivers. I guess the reason is the drivesr are more honed for FX's and not GF4?
Anyway, i want to change the drivers, but i dont know what the best ones are for my card?
Gainward Golden Sample GeForce4 ti4200 64mb.
Thanks very much
Will

If its the numbers game then try the 42.01's - they seemed to work really well on the 4200 on 3d2k1. Spose the later drivers as you say are optimised for a whole different set of features that go over the 4200's head. Still a good piece of kit though.

i used the 45.03 drivers i think it was for my gf4 benchmarking.. managed to get 135xx type ranges, which for a gf4 i felt was pretty impressive.. anyhow just try a few different versions and see whats best for you :), also maybe checkout the omega detonator drivers, as they are meant to either be better performance, or same performance with increased image quality :)

Hi Glad to see someone else still likes the old ti4200.
I've had the same "problem" on my system a XP 2000 with a Leadtek ti4200 128mb I was up to almost 10,000 on 3dmark 2001 with the 44.03 drivers but have seen a steady decline with each new release!!
I am using the 56.64 and only just scrape over 9000 now.
But I still think the ti4200 should go in the graphics card hall of fame!
I'm waiting for PCI express before I upgrade as my trusty 4200 handles everything I throw at it for now

yeah ti4200's do really rock :) sadly mine has started to not handle games so well :( far cry doesnt really run well in high graphics but fine in medium...i think an upgrade will be due before HL2/D3 arrives.....dont think PCI express will be properly around for a while yet.

Had the same probs after upgarding my mobo and putting on the latest drivers finally found going back to the 40's did the trick esp 45.23 which is only 7.96mb.
I did love the ti4200 and will use it in another system as I ended up putting a ATI 9600 Ultimate in yesterday which beats the old girl hands down on 3DMark03.
Still it was a great card and still is if your on a budget and can be picked up cheap enough on e-bay these days.
