Is my new 4850 1 GB faulty ?

Before I phone the e-tailer I got it from tomorrow just want to make sure that the card that I had delivered today is faulty.

Nature of the problem is that when using the top DVI socket my monitor (Samsung SM2053BW) flickers on and off, doesn't do it all the time, and at first it did when installing drivers (I've got the latest Catalyest installed) which I was expecting to see the display flicker when installing new drivers.

I wasn't expecting it to do it when I was just browsing the net, it would do it every couple of hours but never when gaming. I rebooted into Linux and it happened there also.

I connected to the bottom DVI socket and it's been absolutley fine. Now I could keep the card as it is as I currently only run one monitor, but when I have space I would like at some point to run a second one.

Anybody else had a similar problem ?

I'm open to the fact it could just be me and maybe I'm being lazy by not doing a re-install of Vista 64 bit (needs doing really, 12 months or so on same install)

    Rest of PC is

    AMD Athlon X2 5200
    Asus M4A78 Motherboard
    4 GIG DDR2 Corsair
OCZ Stealth Stream 500 watt psu

And now after 20 mins of TF2 the game hard locks although the PC keeps running.

I think a few things may cause the problems, starting from broken socket on monitor.
I would start from removing all the drivers for graphic cards using driver cleaner and install Catalysts again.
what card did you have previously, nVidia or another Ati?

Card that came out was an 8800 GT, however tried the 4850 in a different PC and had the same issue so have got an RMA number to send it back

Retailer are saying no fault found and are sending it back to me, feeling like I have egg on face now.
