1920x1200 Montior recommendations.
I'm looking for a monitor that has at least DVI / VGA input and a native 1920x1200 panel.
Was thinking of something around £400, I know that means I'm probably still in TN panel prices what would it take to get a S-PVA/S-IPS panel?
Ideally I'd like something big ;) 22"+, but again cost will factor in here. The usual triangle : Cost / Quality / Size, you can only really pick two.
I should also say that it will be mainly used for, general computing, i.e. no high end gaming, and a bit of film watching, so dark blacks might be nice to have.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
TIA
Martin
Re: 1920x1200 Montior recommendations.
You can definitely get a 24" non-TN panel for around £400, although you're best off going second-hand or refurbished.
I got a Dell 2407WFP A04 from MCS Tech (a Dell refurb outlet) about a year ago for £280, and it's without a doubt the best upgrade I've made to a desktop PC. They regularly come up on eBay for ~£300 or less.
I use it for graphics (calibrated), gaming and general film/TV watching, and it handles all very well.
Re: 1920x1200 Montior recommendations.
The Dell 2408WFP is consider one of the best monitors around. You can get it for around £400.
I was going to buy this, but I got fed up waiting for REVA01. So I bought its cheaper (TN-panel) brother E248WFP. Awesome budget 24" monitor. Got it for £200ish IIRC.
Re: 1920x1200 Montior recommendations.
Would recommend the Dell 2709 monitor. Cost about the same as the 2408 (When I bought mine it was cheaper than the 2408), monitor is S-PVA and not to mention the input lag is lower than the 2408, have 2xDVI + VGA + HDMI + DP + Component input, and finally a better looking bezel!
Re: 1920x1200 Montior recommendations.
Doesn't the 2408WFP A01 fix the input lag?

No clue, I looked at a few sites with screenshots, some show as little as 19ms and some over 100ms between the 2408 A01 and a CRT monitor.
My 2709WFP is A01 and that also fixed the input lag.

I would get the H-IPS HP LP2475W which IMHO is the best LCD monitor under £500:

If you buy from HP you can get it for under well under £400 according to members on this forum:

Re: 1920x1200 Montior recommendations.
I did have my eye on the Dell a while back but agree that the HP reviews sound better.
I\m surprised that there are only two good screens out there. Thanks everyone for the input.
Re: 1920x1200 Montior recommendations.
I have a ASUS VW266H bought for £269, its an TN panel but I'm very pleased with it for the money...I looked at other Monitors & I could justify the money for what you get...
Re: 1920x1200 Montior recommendations.
If you can afford it the HP is the best 24" screen for your needs.
Re: 1920x1200 Montior recommendations.
I also have a Dell 2408WFP, I picked it due to its price, good reviews and very large number and type of input. I also use the PiP at for my cable/DVD however it is quite limited only allowing one of VGA/DVI/HDMI/Display Port and one off S-Video/Composite/Component so watching TV on is the only thing that is good for. Have the input and PiP switching as dedicated buttons is very useful. I was worried about switching from my CRT because of the chance of dead pixels, however this monitor was perfect and I am very glad I change. I did not get the larger 27" as that just has bigger pixels and if you sitting in front of it whats the point you just end up putting it a bit farther back, and 30" monitors require dual link graphic cards to drive them correctly, and I wanted to game at is native resolution making for very expensive cards in cost and power consumption.
Re: 1920x1200 Montior recommendations.
I have always gone with Dell 24" and can't fault them. I heard there was an issue with the 2408 with input lag. Something to do with the scaler hardware which isn't present on the 2407. Same issue effected the 3008 30".

No input lag problems here. It was fixed in the A01 revision.
I have a 2408WFP A01 and I really recommend it. Very good moniter. Currently a penny shy of £400 from OCUK.

I use the 2408WFP at work too and it seems the HP monitor is much higher regarded as it uses an H-IPS panel.
Anyway using Quidco and a discount code you can get it for around £360 direct from HP.

from actual experience, I'd say you only need to spend £211 inc vat and delivery.

I got one from Scan for my mate (saofg on HEXUS) and he loves it. I plugged it into my machine to have a try and it was very impressive.
Both inputs too. And both cables came with it.
