Hi guys,
My dad wants to buy a 17" TFT to clear up some space on his desk. It needs to be a cheap as poss but still be reasonably stylish (so no beige!). Analogue performance needs to be good as he doesn't have DVI. A ballpark price is £300ish.

Cheapest i've seen is around £240. Also remember that a 17" TFT is = to 19" CRT size but upon closer inspection i found that it is bigger than 19" CRT size so TFT's seem to be the way forward in clarity and size for price and performance.
I would go for the hyundai one (cba to look it up) but it's on the borderline for your budget.
hey, really depends on what he wants it for. TFT's are great for normal work etc. but unless you have about £1000 + to spend then dont go near them for gaming..
It's just for internet and the odd film really, so gaming isn't an issue. I've found this, the XIOD IM17SM, which is cheap one at Scan but can't find any reviews of it. It says it is a Samsung panel:-

Plus I think that the £1000+ price for a gaming panel is a bit of an exageration, me and my mates all have LCDs that don't ghost and are brilliant for gaming and cost no where near that (like about £400).

Ebuyer do 15ms lg tfts 17" for £300 so it might be worth a look there. That liyama looks good though.

mate runs a LG 17" in analogue, seems fine and he hasnt noticed and problems with it or ghosting
That Iiyama actually has a 25ms response time, but it's still fine for web/work/films and even light gaming.
And I'd choose the Iiyama over to 45ms Samsung any day :)
iiyamas are brilliant, got a 19" Iiyama TFT, the only one that does 1600x1200 for that size, and I can't speak highly enough about....mind you, I forked out over 800 smackers for it!!!
I think I'll go for the iiyama, it seems like a pretty good price and looks good too. Thanks for the help chaps
