    Monitor for a £300 budget

    Im currently looking for my first monitor. I have a £300 budget, and would like to game on it. Im not to bother about the size.

    Having done some research I have got my eye on the Dell E248WFP or the Dell 2209WA. But im unsure on both, as the E248WFP is getting old and the 2209WA has a lower response time compared to most other gaming monitors.

    Can any one offer advise or tell me what I should be looking for.

    Thanks
    Razor

    Re: Monitor for a £300 budget

    I would look at the Dell 2209WA or HP LP2275W as both use S-PVA panels IIRC.

    If you stretch to around £350 you can get the HP LP2475W from HP if you use Quidco and the 10% discount code. Check some recent threads on this monitor for details.

    Here are details of the code:

    Quidco details:

    The LP2475W has an H-IPS panel and is an excellent display:

    Re: Monitor for a £300 budget

    Of the two I would go for the Dell 2209WFP. I know the response time seems long, but you hardly notice it, and the colour definition (particularly the black) more then makes up for it.

    I've got a 2409W which I use mostly for gaming and I've never had any problems with it at all.

    After checking your advise, the price comes out at £358 inc VAT and shipping. Im not sure if I want to spend this kind of money, however after looking at the review you posted I am torn between this and the much cheaper dell 2409W

    The HP is the best sub £500 display IMHO and if you want to sell it later on it will have a much better resale value. The image quality of an H-IPS display is much better than the TN type panel found in the Dell. Anyway how often do change a monitor?? Best to go for absolutely brilliant one IMHO.

    The 2409W is TN?! That's odd because the 2408W is PVA. Why would they downgrade to a TN panel?

    Yes that is a fair point, I would probaly keep this monitor for quite a few years.

    Yep:
    As I understand it, excuse the limited knowledge of moniters, these are the sizes and version I looked at.

    2209W = E-IPS
    2408W = S-PVA
    2709W = S-PVA

    I can only get it down to £383.98 inc VAT. (£371 - 10% (-£37.10) = £333.90 + VAT@ £50.08 = £383.98)

    Am I missing something or is it only after paying for it that I see the quidco discount?

    Quidco will take a few weeks to come through and they will tell when you when the cashback gets paid to your Paypal account. The first £5 of your earnings for the year will also be deducted for running costs(only once a year though).

    OK, so it's the quidco discount that gives you that final price? I only ask because from razor92's post "After checking your advise, the price comes out at £358 inc VAT and shipping.", I had the idea it's a price I should see on the screen and not have to calculate it based on potential discounts
