Looks good. I'll get one at Christmas for about £150
Although I would rather be able to pick up a 5870 for that money

Apparently the $299 is Australian dollars, so that should be around $199 in US, making the 5850 around £120-140 I'd guess.

Eagerly waiting for the benchies on these babies.

So much competition in the DX10 cards its doin wonders for prices. shame nvidia is lagging so ATI can put a premium on them at launch!

    Re: radeon 5850 - $299

Hmmmm when the 5890 Vapor X is here let me know. I'll be getting two.
(NV had better pull something extraordinary out of the bag to change my mind. be an interesting couple of months.)
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

Hope so. Might well upgrade once DX11 hardware becomes solid - currently running two 7600GTs (not in SLI - for multi monitor), but have Fallout 3 still in shrinkwrap calling for me..

Here's hoping they aren't ridiculously power hungry. 98% of the time I'm not playing games.

I can't see it out-performing the 4890, but you can bet the 5870 will!

I dunno it might not beat it for raw FPS but might have other performance benefits.

Hopfully tomorrow we will know pricing and performance of these bad boys. I'm assuming Hexus and other sites already have the cards tested and are NDA'd up until tomorrow.

Naturally. No doubt some Chinese site will break rank at somepoint. I'm keeping my eye on The Inquirer - they seem to like breaking NDAs.
