Hi.
I have my gainward gf4ti4200 64mb at 310-567. How can i get it to 600. Any further than 567 (riva tuner will only allow me to go from 567-598ish) is there anything i can do to get 600mhz? I have a thermal take copper cooler on it.
Thanks
Will

When you say riva tuner will get you 567-598, is that the software slider or is that the card stopping you going higher?
At the 59*mhz the card gets lots of artifacts. But riva tuner only allows me to go from 567-59*. Nothing inbetween, it just has those to settings for that area....
I think the card is probably maxed out. I was just wondering if it could get any higher.
Other than watercooling the core and memory chips, I doubt it..

Use coolbits+ and lower the core to 300 and raise the mem to 600. Most Ti4200 cards can reach that setting.

Furton.NET Coming soon!
With riva tuner you can overclock 2 different ways afaik. By the hardware way and also by the software way. Did you try both?
Yeah i agree with furton, try 300 core 600 memory see if it can handle it.
u cant chose anyhting inbetween?????
on my 9700np i use radlinker, lets me chose the increasements, i have it set to 1.5 giving me a max of 382, if i put increasements to 6.75 (stock) the slider goes upto 3400 mhz, lol
my mem seems maxed out at 313.50 (627), artifats start at 319 (638) and not tryed inbetween yet, currently cutting some memsinks for it, core reaches 350 and higher but i havent pushed it any further
Well the 4200 64MB should all use 250/500 clocks as std. Almost all the time that would mean 3.6ns TSOP RAM which technically should hit 555mhz but can sometimes hit up to 580mhz though I doubt that would be 100% artifact free. As for the core ALL GF4TI should get between 280mhz and 320mhz. Your card reaches almost exactly where you would imagine, your only real hope is to do similar to what Furton suggested and put the core back to 250mhz and then see if the RAM can go above 567mhz, once you find your RAM limit independent of the core you can then see where the core will go. Unlike the GF2/4MX archy the GF4TI series produce equal gains from both core and RAM so add up the mhz to work out what's better (eg 310/567 vs 290/580) HOWEVER I always rec giving priority to the RAM as it gives off less heat and is very unlikely to reduce the life of your card vs running the core higher.
Do note cooling often plays only the tiniest part in GF4TI o/c'ing. RAM usually does its technical speed (or more) and when it doesn't RAM HS don't help (ie it's internal not heat related). The core on most 4200 is cooled as well as most 4600/4800 so again it tends to be the poorer cores that limit you (ie the ones which couldn't make the 300mhz 4600/4800 requirement).
So basicly 310/567 is a VERY good o/c yielding perf above the TI4400 and TI4800SE, don't expect more as it's very likely to be the limit of your particular card. Even a stock 4200 troubles the FX5600ultra and Radeon9600PRO so don't sweat it! All modding will do (IMHO) is void your warranty. I realise o/c'ing does this BUT if the card dies of a manu'ing defect unrelated to the o/c'ing you MAY get some come-back ... if the card has been visually modded it will never even be tested. Just one final point (again I'm only expressing my opinion and experience here) is to ensure you run a little way below your max o/c to ensure the least stress on your card and for good long term stability.

Good point about the ram giving off less heat than the core, useful information thanks austin
lol, coolbits, it can clock my ge4 ti4800 to 1000/1400
then it dies

blockers, nitrogen cooling that might work quite well, ill come round later and help yas. But in all seriousness has any one tryed it?
sod your ti42000, what about my Geforce2 mx 400!!!!

p.s. nitrogen cooling not advisable. electronic equipment doesnot opperate beyond extreme temperatures - we're near the hot end but liquid N2 does push the lower end, plus if you touch it kiss goodbye to your fingers when they shatter on your keyboard/mouse/joystick/up your nose as you pick it...

One other thing to note when working with liquid N2 is that it is a dispersant. When left to vaporise into gaseous N2, it will push all the air out of the room leaving only N2 gas... not good for oxygen breathers! So make sure you are in a well ventillated place when dealing with this stuff.Originally posted by shiato storm

Back to topic now.... I have the Gainward ti4200 64Mb GS which has 3.3ns ram chips which I manages to push to 340/640 although I run it 24/7 at 300/600 as 340/640 was unstable with several artifacts. I have had no problems with running it at 300/600. Good luck with yours blockers.
Oh yeah and my first visit and post in the Hexus forum...
