    SLi question

With graphics card prices tumbling due in part to the approaching arrival of the ati 5xxx series I'm considering beefing up my graphics.

As I'm planning on upgrading to socket1156 shortly that leaves me with a few options open.
I've no real complaints with my current 9800gtx and I was wondering seeing as the gts250 is basically the same card with a new model number slapped on it.

So could I get one of the cheap sub £100 gts250's and SLi it with my 9800gtx?
Or would there be hiddious compatibility issues?

    Anyone know about this?

I seem to remember that SLi was always picky over using different cards, where as crossfire was far more forgiving.

Or should I just try to pick up another cheap 2nd hand 9800gtx? (if I can)

    Re: SLi question

you can if its a 9800gtx+ as its just a bios flash, as i understand it, to "make it into a gts250" which you can then run in sli with a 2nd gts 250.

    Was done here

    Re: SLi question

    I found the answer here
    http://forums.slizone.com/index.php?showtopic=34861

Only the 9800 GTX+ can be used in conjunction with a GTS 250 in SLI, both requiring matched memory volumes of course.
    So it's no

Now I don't know what to do
