hi, i brought one of those ati 9500np's from retek(?) off ebay for £65.
anyway it arrived today i uninstalled my nvidia drivers then put the new card in went to the ati site installed the drivers restarted the pc, then all i got was a screen with different colour blocks lines ect on it. it will change every few seconds to a fuzzy gray and white screen and others, does this mean the card is broke? any help would be greatfully recived

That sounds like a knackered card to me, and it's yet another retek card that's done it..

send it back chap, save another £40-50 and get yourself a 9800pro.

thanks, i thought it was, but wasn't sure as it worked without any drivers installed(is that because the card wasn't actually used?)

also when i put it in my pc, i forgot to plug the floppy power cable in and it gave me a message on screen saying-
your 9700 is not connected or something like that, so does that mean someone has tried to softmod it allready?

    thanks

i might aswell stick with my mx4400 now as i don't play any games now as i've got a cube and xbox for that,

when i installed it with the omega drivers though it would get to the welcome screen for xp but that would have a thick red bar at the bottom then just crash, is there nothing i can to to save it? as it's got the 3.3 infinion? ram on it

Yea send it back. I bought a gf2 mx400 ages ago from a local company which did exactly the same, with the bios etc, and both of the replacements were also the same.
Infinion mem isnt very good at stock voltage it will get to 310mhz and with cooling and vmod it gets to about 330.

Quite a few people here have had the wrong cards sent....but is seems about 50/50 whether you get a better or worse card....I have known people getting 9800AIWs instead of 9500s for example...I bet they were'nt sent back!!!
