Dumb question regarding dual monitor support

This is a pretty dumb question, but I can't easily find the answer anywhere.

I'm looking at a dual monitor setup, and wanted to be sure that if a graphics card has more than one output port (in this case it has 1 x D-Sub, 1 x DVI-I & 1 x HDMI) it means I can use 2 monitors simultaneously? (rather than just being alternative output options)

Specifically, this is the product I'm looking at:

    Thanks

Re: Dumb question regarding dual monitor support

If you plugged 2 monitors into that graphics card you could use both simultaneously. You can either have a clone image, or have an extended desktop across both screens.

    ok cheers.

Just for my knowledge.. Does more than 1 port always means dual monitor support is possible?

Re: Dumb question regarding dual monitor support

I'm certain it is, that's why they have more than one port - for dual monitor. From the picture it looks like there is a DVI, VGA and HDMI port there, so I think you could connect 3 monitors with the right connections.

Two displays only. Sounds like any combination of VGA, DVI and HDMI.

Not every multi connector card will let you use multiple monitors, but these days virtually all of them will.

Re: Dumb question regarding dual monitor support

    Oops, my bad .

Dual monitors are excellent, at first it's hard getting used to but once you do you'll find it hard going back to one!

Re: Dumb question regarding dual monitor support

If you are spending that kinda money i would try and get a card with dual dvi as you might find, especially if using 2 identical monitors, that the picture qulity may vary everso slightly between vga and dvi. Which could be kinda annying, well it would for me anyways.

Not if you use the DVI and the HDMI. After all, HDMI is just DVI with audio data and HDCP tacked on (with a couple of other things as well, granted).
