    Graphics card help

Hi I am looking in to upgrading all my pc's to windows 7 but I have an old pc from 2004 which still runs AGP cards.

The montherboard in the pc is a GA-K8VNXP http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/...Name=GA-K8VNXP

The current card does not support Aero for windows 7 which requires:

Aero also requires a DirectX 9 class graphics processor that supports a Windows Display Driver Model Driver, Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware, and 32 bits per pixel.
So my question is their a graphics card that will support areo that will run in that motherboard?

    Thanks for your time
    Regards

    Re: Graphics card help

Any low end DX9 AGP card will do the job. Basically any of the Nvidia 5,6 or 7 series in AGP or any of the ATI 9000,X800,X1800,X1900,2000,3000 and 4000 series in AGP will do the job.

This card will do the job:

    Re: Graphics card help

    Hi,

Cat is completely correct, but just a quick word of warning - make sure you DON'T get a ATI Radeon below a 9500 (ie 9000, 9200, 9250), as they are DX8.1 parts, so only run pixel shader 1.4. Radeon 9500, 9550, 9600, 9700, 9800 are all fine (DX 9b, pixel shader 2). As Cat said, all NVidia FX (5) and above ard DX9b pixel shader 2 cards.

    See ya!

    Re: Graphics card help

FX (5) series are only dx9.0a, not b, but this is still enough for Aero (though not a lot else!)

    Re: Graphics card help

Do be aware that any ATI card earlier than a HD2000 series isn't officially supported under the Windows 7 drivers...
