    omg benchies for sure

I'm doing fine with my 4850, resisting the cool factor of the 5850 for now

The price of the 5850 just increased by £20 putting it over my budget for my rig (which was already slightly over budget!) This sucks so much :'(

Re: So Who Decided To Buy a 58xx?

I thought about it, then realised that I had a 295 and that'll do me for about 3 years, and someone, much to my surprise, a sense of sanity came over me, as I decided not to buy it.

And yet I just spent around £600 on a HTPC... maybe I'm not so sane after all.

Just get a 4870 1GB for now. By the time it's not capable of playing current games at 1920x1200 a card that's faster than the 5850 will be available for £100 anyway

Re: So Who Decided To Buy a 58xx?

I'm sticking with my 4870 512MB for now, perhaps in 6 months or so, when the retail stock stabilises (and hopefully diminished demand will bring the price down), I may look at getting a 5870.

Having been off the ball with PC components for the last few years, what's the best guess for when the supply situation is likely to be sorted?

It will if you remove the middle HDD tray

Re: So Who Decided To Buy a 58xx?

I have a 5850 coming with a new Mesh i5-750 base unit on 7 Nov - I just don't have the time to self-build anymore and it was a reasonable deal.
