Advice Needed On Triple Monitors
Hi,
I have a BFG GTX260. It has 3 outputs, 2 x DVI and 1 x HDMI. I currently have 2 monitors connected to the 2 dvi ports, I also have one spare monitor.
Is it possible to connect the monitor the HDMI output on this card and have 3 monitors? I haven't tried it yet as it would mean buying an HDMI cable, an expense I can do without if it didn't work.
I only use one display for gaming so not interested in multi-monitor gaming, just would like to know if I can use 3 monitors with this card :)
Cheers
Jon
Re: Advice Needed On Triple Monitors
Unfortunately not Jon, the only graphics cards able to output to 3 monitors in the consumer market are the Radeon 5xxx series, and even then, one of the monitors needs a DisplayPort connection.
Re: Advice Needed On Triple Monitors
This is true, however if you are willing to spend a little dosh to get a low end graphics card, you can use that for your 3rd moniter. Something like a GT 220 should do, assuming you don't want to use this moniter for multi-mon games like Supcom.
There is this one from XFX for £54.59.
Or if ya don't mind spending a wee bit of extra dosh, allowing it to give a better kick for stuff like PhysX, you can get a GT 250...
An ASUS one will set you back £80.47.
Re: Advice Needed On Triple Monitors
Thanks for the replies.
I only use one monitor for 3D gaming so getting a cheap card would be ok, my monitors are all different sizes so I only use them all when progamming on the main, and using acrobat on the other screen for instance. I only really wanted a third because I had the monitor hanging around and could have had 2 documents open at once(without having to swap between them).
I will check out some other cards, thanks for the advice :)

Yeah certain brands are MONSTERously over priced and should be avoided at all costs. Shouldn't need to spend more than a few quid.
Re: Advice Needed On Triple Monitors
Thanks for the link, and indeed you are correct, sourcing the cable locally I found prices between £18.99 and £49.99. Seemed a lot for a cable.

I think they compare them to string.

Well that too, but getting a signal through string in some cases produced a better picture than their cable did, but they scraped in favour of a analog medium like component. ;)

Where I work, I've found string to be far superior to Orange's mobile network, so that honestly doesn't surprise me.

The only problems I find with string as a signal medium is that it can easily be interupted by touching the transfer cable, thus it is very hard to mount over long distances, and that the speed of transfer is limited to about 420 m/s.

Ahhh, you need the MONSTER String Mounting System Pro Edition, which will reduce interference by at least 10 times and increase the handshake time between points, giving you a better quality and speed of data transfer, and consequently the most mindblowing conversational experience you're ever likely to have.
Platinum oxygen-free cups are also a must.

I am so tempted to see if I can get a stable HDMI signal transfered over string! Then I want to go to a Curries/Comet shop, and set it up next to the Monster stand, and ask people if they can see the difference. (Of course audio delay would be a problem, so the sound would either have to be transfered over HDMI as well, or muted).
