What graphics cards have you owned??

It would be interesting to know what your graphics card history is!

    Nvidia:
    Geforce Go440
    Geforce MX440
    Geforce Ti4200
    6200
    6600LE
    6600GT
6800LE unlocked to 16 pipelines and 6 vertex shaders(happy days!)
    7600GT
    7900GS
    8500GT
    8800GTS 512MB

    ATI:
9500 PRO (lasted me around 2 years IIRC)
    9600 PRO
    X300SE
    X1900GT
    HD3870 GDDR4
    HD4830

Some Intel and VIA motherboards with integrated graphics.

    Edit!

The cards are not in order of ownership.

    and countless onbaord ones...
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Re: What graphics cards have you owned??

    1994 - Cirrus Logic 5400 Series 512k
    1996/1997 - Trident 1MB ISA
    1997 - Matrox Millennium II 4mb + Guillemont Voodoo2 12mb in 1998
    1999 - Voodoo3 2000 16MB
    1999 - Voodoo3 3000 16MB
    1999/2000 - Matrox G400 32MB
    2001/2002 - GeForce 2 GTS 32MB
    2002 - Geforce 4 Ti4200 64MB (AGP4x)
    2005 - ATI x700 Pro 128MB
    2005 - ATI x800GTO @ x850XT 256MB
    2007 - ATI x1900xtx 512MB
    2008 - Nvidia Geforce 8800GT 512MB

    2009 - Awaiting delivery of an XFX 4870 512mb.

Only lemons were the Trident 1MB (slower than the Cirrus logic, even if it could do 24bit colour) and the x700.

Re: What graphics cards have you owned??

    All NVidia so far:

    TNT2 Model 64 32Mb
    6600GT 128Mb (Died 27th December 2009)
    7900GS 256Mb
8600M GS 512Mb (forgot about that in my laptop, does that count? )
    GT220 512Mb (replaced the dead 6600GT)

Next card is likely going to be from ATi though as I'm highly tempted by the 5xxx cards for my planned new PC build next year

    Ati 9300SE
    Nvidia 6600GT
    Nvidia 7800GTX
Nvidia 7950 GX2 (lasted for about 1 week, as it kept overheating)
Ati X1950XTX (Probably my favourite card, solid, stable and still runs like a peach)
    Nvidia 8800GT
    ATI 3870X2
    ATI 4870X2

As you can see I'm not much of fan boy, but I've got a soft spot for Ati and in particular their X2 cards

Re: What graphics cards have you owned??

VGA (ISA. It was a 286)
    Cirrus Logic 5426 (VLB)
A truly ****ty 1MB Avance Logic card (PCI)
S3 Vision 968 (PCI) - my most expensive card - 400 quid (or was it 300? lots anyway). Then the Matrox millenium came out the month afterwards - much better and half the price. oh well.
..at the same time, a Creative Labs 12MB Voodoo2 card - first 3D acceleration
    TNT1 32MB card (PCI)
Matrox G400 MAX (AGP) - fantastic card
FireGL 8800 (basically the workstation version of the Radeon 8500)
very briefly a PCI Radeon 9250 (PCI) - stupid ATI drivers couldn't run both a FireGL 8800 and the PCI card at the same time as each set of drivers had a different version of one file. muppets.
two 7600GT 'fatal1ty' PCI-e cards (bought because they're passive, not because of the stupid fatality branding)
    8800GTX

Next : 5850/5870 probably, assuming they sort their driver issues out..

Also, in my home theatre system : Radeon 9200 (AGP), then Nvidia 6200 (AGP)

Overall the best cards were the G400MAX - worked with pretty much every OS (except BeOS), great image quality, not bad in games. Eventually sold it on ebay for a reasonable price years later.

S3 Vision 968. Basically this was a workstation card - certified drivers for all the CAD apps and every OS under the sun including NeXTStep. Never did get around to getting NeXTStep though. Still in use in my legacy games box - the TNT1 doesn't support the moving up and down of the screen in Ultima VII, but the S3 does.

7600GT has been pretty good, but nothing exciting really.

    Talking purely about non-work machines:

Orchid Kelvin 64 ISA (awesome, in conjunction with a soundwave 32 and CD ROM!!)
3dfx Voodoo 2 (Quake 2 went from 20fps to 60 and coloured lighting!!)
nVidia TNT2 32 (meh.. cheap Dell option as I wasn't going to pay them over the odds.. so I soon got the following..)
nVidia Geforce 2 Ultra (Nice while it lasted. Died. Dell took to the computer back and replaced it with..)
nVidia Geforce 3 ti500 (Which was a suprise, given the 2 ultra wasn't from them. Oooo look at the water in Morrowind..)
ATI mobile radeon 7500 (Laptop.. actually very impressive, especially with the omega drivers)
nVidia Geforce FX5700 (full) (Wasn't as bad as everyone made out. V. cheap second hand buy.. shiney effects in NFS:Underground 2!! Transfered over into my current machine - yay for AGP + PCI-E motherboards)
nVidia Geforce 6800GT (okay.. now we're talking. A *proper* card. Did the new machine justice)
ATI Radeon 1950XT (Could not resist.. too much speed.. too low price! Fed up with horrible nVidia drivers for games of different ages)
AMD HD4870 (As the above x10!! Now CPU is a bottleneck in some cases, so free AA and AF!)

S3 Virge (this was in 1996 so god knows what variant!)
    Riva TNT2
Voodoo Banshee *new entry* (thanks for the reminder dfour )
    Geforce 2 MX 64Mb
    Geforce 3 Ti200 64mb - Refernece
Radeon 9800 SE All-in-wonder *new entry* (thanks for the reminder chuckskull )
Radeon 9800 Pro 128Mb - Fitted with Arctic Cooler / Refernece (had 2 of these in my time)
    Geforce 6800 GT 256Mb - Reference
    Geforce 7950 GT 256Mb - Reference
Radeon X800 GTO^2 256Mb (unlocked to X850XT PE) - Fitted with Arctic Cooler 5 or whatever the relevant number was
Radeon X1900 Pro 256Mb - Reference (died due to overheating VRMs)
    Radeon X1950 XT 256Mb - Reference
Geforce 8800 GT 512Mb - Fitted with AC Accelero 2 and 1x 120mm Low RPM fan (and a second card with stock cooling)
    Radeon 4870 512Mb - Reference
Radeon 4870 1Gb - Asus 'Dark Knight' 3rd party cooler

Edit: I've probably missed a one or two out from the early years. Sure I had a Geforce 4 MX at some point. I was also upgrading 3 machines concurrently a few years back and things get a bit confusing there! The list represents my main rig's cards over the years though from around 1996 to present (with a few second rig cards listed as well).

I've had my fair share of experience with both brands. Favour ATI (ever since I used the Radeon 9800 Pro and loaded homeworld 2!), but Nvidia got their AA together somewhere around the 7/8 series of cards so that won them some points.

Highlights along the way have been:
    TNT2 + Freespace 2
    9800 Pro + Homeworld 2 / Call of Duty
    6800 GT + Battlefield 2
    8800 GT + Crysis
