Question to crossfire with a P55 board or not to ?

Got a P55 motherboard. got a 30" monitor so I dont think a 5870 on its own wont do. Would it be worth while to crossfire 2 x 5870`s ??

The vast majority of games should be more then fine on a 30".

    I game exclusively at 2560x1600 with a 4870x2.

As for Crossfire, you can do with that board, the second card at 4x should still give most of it's speed benefit.

Re: to crossfire with a P55 board or not to ?

A single HD5870 should do the job for most games at 1920X1200 and 2560X1600:

TBH,the HD5970 and HD5950 maybe released in the next few weeks and these are the X2 derivatives of the HD5870 and HD5850 respectively.

Re: to crossfire with a P55 board or not to ?

P55 boards run @8x8 and compared to 16x16 notice only 2-7% performance loss. At that res on full eye candy i expect u'd appreciate the second card, however, it depends on the games you play as to how demanding they are, try one 5870 first and if u need more power u know what to do, or wait til the 18/11 when the 5970 is released
