    Looking for another 24" Monitor

At the moment I'm using a Dell 2407 A04 which I love It's main use is for my 360, hardly use my PC anymore as I tend to have my laptop sat on my desk as well.

What I was looking to do was to get another 24" monitor to either hook up to my PC or to use on my 360. That frees up the laptop for the wife then.

So, do I get a new monitor to use my 360 or do I get another for the PC and keep the Dell for the 360? I have no issues at all with my Dell and the quality of it on the 360, but are there better monitors out there for the 360? I know a lot of the newer monitors have HDMI inputs, would this give me any benefit over the VGA cable I'm currently using?

Another option would be to get a cheaper 24" for my PC, this would be used purely for web browsing, some of the LG and Samsung screens look nice or I could try and get hold of another 2407 A04.

If I do go for my a new monitor for my 360, would I be better off getting something with a 1920 x 1080 res?

    Any recommendations or opinions?

Re: Looking for another 24" Monitor

Thanks for the link. I do like the look of the Samsung monitors but I do want a 24"

They will be sat next to each other and it will look silly if they are different sizes, well maybe that's just me

how big is the monitor you're using?

    vertical and horizontal
    display edge and monitor edge

then we can compare the size

54cm wide and 32cm tall (full monitor)
51cm wide and 29cm tall (actual display)

IIRC,the Dell uses an S-PVA screen whereas cheaper 24" LCD panels use TN type panels which aren't as good for colour accuracy and viewing angles. I would probably get a TN type panel for the XBox 360 and keep the Dell for your PC.

Would it not make more sense for me to use the better monitor for the 360? If the PC is just going to be for browsing?

If you intend to edit some pictures from your camera for example the Dell would a better choice.

TBH,perhaps it is worth buying the new monitor first and then seeing which one you prefer for normal usage.

Re: Looking for another 24" Monitor

Surely if you are connecting the 360 through VGA it will be at a sub-HD resolution, so getting a monitor with HDMI would improve the quality of image.

And why not use your new monitor on both the 360 and PC, meaning that you can have duel screens on the PC when the 360 is not in use, tho once you have used duel screen once, there is no going back to a single monitor (you have been warned)

As far as I'm aware you get full HD through the VGA cables, it's running at 1920 x 1080. I really don't use my PC much at all, it's not even been turned on in about 4 months.

I think I'm going to try and find another 2407 A04.

I think that it depends on the TV/monitor, our TV will only accept something like 1240 from a VGA cable, but afank that it can go up to full 1080p, just not sure of the quality of image you will get then (what with it being analogue), and whether the xbox will send a full or even 720 HD image through it.

My 360 does 1080p via VGA no problem, the picture looks slightly different to HDMI, not better or worse, just subtly different.

Re: Looking for another 24" Monitor

The picture on my 2407 is better than I get using a HDMI on my Samsung HDTV. So it must be full HD through the VGA.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm gonna find another 2407 from somewhere.

If you do go for a new monitor for the 360 make sure you look to see what the delay lag is like. I know some gamers are very sensitive to the extra lag time some of the larger screens have

Re: Looking for another 24" Monitor

This is a cool and fairly new monitor from BenQ. Not sure if it'll fit your budget though?

    V2400 Eco:

    24" L.E.D. BackLit
    16:9 Full HD 1920x1080 display
    1000:1 contrast ratio (DCR: 5 million: 1)
    5ms response time
    D-Sub, HDMI

RoHS certified, mercury-free, energy star certified.

    http://it247.com/product/1/BNQCM04J/...paign=dealtime

This monitor was produced with an eco-friendly attitude, so I guess BenQ wanted to make it look Eco friendly. It's great cause it's really thin and actually a percentage of it's exterior casing is made from recycled plastic which is pretty cool. The best part of it is it's Full HD (24") and it uses LED backlighting instead of standard CCFL.
    Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz, 2 GB DDR2, 500GB SATA-II 7200RPM, nVidia GeForce 9800GT 512mb, BenQ E2200 HD, BenQ G2412HD, Logitech S510 Wireless set, Creative GigaWorks T3 Speakers.
