Looking for Gaming Monitor
Hi guys, I'm trying to help a mate of mine find a gaming monitor
-Ideally 24"
-it should be roughly under <£160
-needs to be able to connect to ps3
-his rig will probly end up with 5770 1GB, 4890 or 5850 (if he's lucky :))
I was thinking a 24'' benq, cheap and pretty decent too
I would greatly appreciate some help, thanks!!! :)

Re: Looking for Gaming Monitor
how about this one:
Dell ST2310 23" Full HD
found it on hotukdeals

Seems to tick all the boxes or am i missing something.
How does it compare to other monitors at my price range?
Re: Looking for Gaming Monitor
For your price range that looks like a top monitor mate :)
Re: Looking for Gaming Monitor
btw can i get a student discount with dell? Cos im pretty sure they do it
Re: Looking for Gaming Monitor
Just bought it with a student discount came to around £139 :)
It says it only comes with VGA cable, nothing else.
So now I need to find a decent hdmi cable from what I hear any cheap one will do
is this true???

Pretty much, i think Scan sell them pretty cheap - you may just have to stick it on your next order though as paying £7 P&P for something thats around £3 is obviously not doing you any favours.

Was going to recommend you the BenQ G2410HD [23.6 inch], which comes with full hd (16:9), 2ms GTG, but only comes with DVI and D-sub instead of HDMI.

Maybe as a second monitor? :)
But, you got a pretty good deal with the Dell, but it is 23 inches instead of 24 right?
BenQ make great monitors, I own them myself and love them!!
Oh and regarding the HDMI cable. Don't just get a random cheap one, as they may make a difference. Do a little research, a mediocre one will do = ) And yes its standard for monitors to come without HDMI cables, it's a way for the companies to lower the over price of the product to make them more appealing to consumers....
Re: Looking for Gaming Monitor
I always adored CRT moniters for gaming nothing beats 100hz I am still running CRTS for my fav FPS games, I know there are some 120LCDs out there If your really wanting a smooth gaming experence I would go for one of those.

Yeah, but those 120hz cost quite a bit hahahaha. Depending on your willingness to pay and budget?
