    Re: Quietest GTX250/260

I know there is a low-profile GTX 260 - think it may be by Gainward although im not sure. Obviously you'd expect the GTS 250's to be quiter and i think your best bet would be to go with something like a Asus Dark-Knight ?

Edit: Its a Galaxy GTX 260 thats low-profile, heres the link http://www.galaxytech.com/en/productview.aspx?id=194

Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

That Galaxy Razor is actually a little louder than a normal GTX260+:

    Re: Quietest GTX250/260

my gainward gts 250 green is very quiet at idle. Even when gaming, though the fan does ramp up it doesn't get that loud. I use it in a htpc, and while it's very noticeable under load in the living room, I doubt I'd be that bothered in a normal bedroom pc. my 4870 gets louder.
plays games at 1080p with no issues (though I've not played that many on it to be honest)

    Re: Quietest GTX250/260

    Heh .

I am in exact same postion as shaithis

I have built a real quiet PC for my mate
NZXT HUSH Case - seasonic 430 watt PSu - Zalman 9770 HS etc

    Really pleased with the silence

But the Gainward GTS 250 Green was way out of line ( on this builr anyway)
It was easiliest the loudest fan present , I know smaller fans are louder but this must be a 80mm minimum

So it has to be Nvidia and around 70 - 80 quid

    My current best guess is this ASUS card - ENGTS250 DK/DI/512MD3 - 512MB Asus GTS 250 Dark Knight, 2200MHz GDDR3, GPU 740MHz, 128 Cores {LN 26707}

Only because it is a great brand and a dirty great heatsink

    Anyone any ideas

    Re: Quietest GTX250/260

what about a GTX260 on the cheap from somewhere (about £130 if you look around) and then get a thermalright heatsink for it or something, you can even run them things fanless on most cards (silence )

It is a MATX board and the user has his own high end sound card ( with secial breakout box)

I have to do it in 2 slots and have to do it for prob £100 max and it has to be quiet and nvidia
    (he is a SUSE user)

I think I might downgrade him to a 240 they have lower TDP

Probably it would be better to get a bus powered 9800GT Green Edition:

I don't know how quiet the cards are though.

    Re: Quietest GTX250/260

Actually I'd say go with a stock cooler gts250 most of the nvidia stock coolers are very good, esp any of the two slot coolers like the gts250 or gtx260 stock cooler.
I know the only time I hear my 9800gtx is when I use a burn test on it, other than that it's not that loud at all.
