What DVI/HDMI socket

Hi,

I have three monitors set up, all of them 1080p. One is attatched by HDMI (its a TV) to my onboard graphics card. Does that mean the output on this screen is powered by the onboard graphics or are all the monitors processed by both the onboard and the dedicated card?

The two monitors are attatched to a 4770.

I ask as the 1080p playback seems a bit choppy atm

Yes, the moniter connected to the onboard graphics card will be processed by the onboard graphics card. There is no load sharing systems in most motherboards. In fact the only one that exisists is Lucid Hydra, and that hasn't come to market yet.

So yes, your choppy playback on that moniter is because of the intrgated chipset not being powerful enough for 1080p content.

The monitor will be powered by whatever it is connected to. So the TV will be powered by, I assume, the 780G chipset. The other two by the 4770.

Check your processor usage while playing. Proper hardware playback should only use 10-20% of a dual core AM2 system. Some of the high end Quad core units, with hardware acceleration of HD streams, can idle away at about 2-5% CPU usage.

This depends on teh software you are using though.

Yes, an DXVA enabled player. However that will only work on the dedicated graphics chipset, i.e. the 4770. I recommend KMPlayer, but that doesn't have DXVA enabled by default. There is a thread on the KMPlayer forums dedicated to explaining how to set it up through.

For the easiest DXVA player, there is MediaPlayer Classic. For a newbie to DXVA accerlated video, this is probably the easiest to setup. Just install and go.

Yes indeed, VLC does not currently have GPU Acceleration AFAIK. Although, I still use it for 90% of my video needs (emotional attachment?) - the other 10% is Blu-Ray through PowerDVD HD.
