    hexus hasnt reviewd it yet

What you see on the main page is a preview, Rys actually says this. The card will be reviewed when retail samples are available.

I cant wait to see what ATI have got!

Benchies look nice but as with most people we'll see what the ATI cards can do first.

The 480W PSU 'requirement' is scary, add another £50 on top of the final price for a quality PSU :/

If anybodys seen the Unreal 3 engine tech demo then you will know what sort of graphics this thing is capable of you can get the video here . It has more geometry and light data in 1 character model than an entire level in the first unreal! Also this still isnt the final retail board its probably very close though, drivers and such could still tweaked in the couple months it takes for the card to appear. Still can't say its the daddy though untill i see the ATi card.

    I agree mate.

As impressive as it all is and even if ati come up with their next card that can trounce this one or whatever i wont be spending £400 on a card. Dont get me wrong if i could afford to then i would but with my student level of income i paused before blowing £140 on my new rad 9800pro.

Still prices come down fast and its exciting to see what we'l be playing with in the future anyway.

The unreal 3 demo is superb. Its amaizng to see how far graphics have come and where they are going

Now... how long is it until ati's nda ends??

it will only be £400 for a month at the most, then it will drop to £350 for another month then £300 then gradual reductions, same as always.

Haven't nvidia said that its not a good idea to use y splitters?

In which case that would rule out the PCB theory surely?

Has anyone heard that it will cost £400, or is that just going on what the 5900 and 5950's cost, when they first came out?

It will retail at $499 apparently, which is about £280. Do we alwyas pay a ton over the odds compared to our American friends for exactly the same item?

£400 is just over $700, so we'd be paying $200 more for the same item, if the $499 \ £400 retail prices at launch are correct.

    Yeah we do

Anyone thinking about it is looking at £300odd plus vat. But if you have that kind of cash for a graphics card then its not a problem is it.

Well, I have a 9800XT to sell (maybe) plus the extra, but yes, its still a problem.

Paying £400 is one thing, paying £400 when the Yanks are paying $499 is another.

If it comes out priced at £400, but $499 in America, I'll buy an Owl, or something, a really big, expensive one, just to spite Nvidia.

Yeah they have. The oficial line is use a 480w psu minimum and use seperate rails- no y-splitters. In all likelyhood they are just covering themselves in the event of a load of kids blowing up their rigs with 250w qtecs

Vaul, an owl will probably last longer than a graphics card

What is the deal with the 480w min PSU? Will I have to chuck my Antec 350w SmartBlue and get a 'better' model, or will a quality 350w do, and its just the people with 350w Q-Tecs that will need more juice?

Nvidia are probably just playing it safe but we can only speculate until we see review samples. If you really have to have a 480w psu then a decent upgrade wont come cheap.

Lets just hope loads of people dont go out and buy 550w (real voltage 300w) psu's to run their spangly new 6800's

Personally I think that 480w is precautionary, remember some dodgy power supply suppliers (hmmm) test the wattages at 0c whereas some do it at normal operating temperatures. One mans 480w is another 250w.
