Actually PCI-Express isn't just for graphics cards. There are 1x 4x 8x and 16x variants, 16x for graphics cards. There are two different types of PCI-Express (in black) slots on this pic I took at CTS. It's a grantsdale mobo.

so its like a reverse PCI slot, that can do 16X transfer as a normal pci ?

Swafeman I don't know about transfer speeds I can't remember what the Intel guy told me.

PCI-Express 1x will be better than PCI anyway. And no, they're not just reverse PCI slots, it's thinner has more contacts and the 16x is longer & set back slightly more.

hmm most pci cards are no longer than there slot, hopefully this means pci-ex stuff will be a lot smaller in length. Also gives motherboards more space to put stuff, meaniing more stuff or smaller mobos, which would be nice...

Don't expect them to be smaller - not the high end cards.
