Smile Looking for graphics card upgrade advice

Hi thinking of getting a new card.

    I'm running 64 bit windows 7 pro

    Specs are:

    Athlon 64 x2 6000+ 3GHz, 4gb ddr2 6400 socket am2 board gigabyte something or other

Current card is an inno3 8500 GT 512MB

    My monitor is only a 19 inch 1440 x 900 res.

Thinking of going for a 9600 gt not sure it it would be worth spending any more for something a little better.

    Opinions?

    Thanks in advance

What Cat said, we need to know the budget and psu before we can advise anything.

Not sure on model of psu but it is 520 w and has one of those 6 pin connector things can take case apart to check if it's important.
looking to spend up to £75ish tops but a little less would be better obviously.

It would be important to check the model first!

Atrix do not make very good PSUs:

I would consider getting something a bit better IMHO.

Ok thanks what would you recommend? Don't mind spending a bit to get something decent if it means I can keep it for when I make my next upgrade.

Re: Looking for graphics card upgrade advice

Scan have some very good PSUs on offer this weekend but you will need to spend extra on postage!!

I would look at Corsair HX450W(CMPSU-450HXUK) for around £52:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/todayonly/index.aspx

This unit has modular cabling meaning less cable mess in the case.

I would look to get and HD5670 512MB for around £65:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/todayonly/index.aspx

The total with postage comes to around £125.

The other alternative is to get the PSU from Scan and get the following graphics card from Ebuyer:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/169143

The 9800GT Green Edition is a bit faster than the HD5670.

The HX450W is made by Seasonic I consider a better unit than the Silverstone Strider 500W and OCZ ModXStream 500W modular units.

Re: Looking for graphics card upgrade advice

My case only has a grill big enough for an 8cm fan for the psu so would I be better off with a new case? Could go up to £150 total budget maybe. Card and psu seem good otherwise though.

Re: Looking for graphics card upgrade advice

I would probably go for the Silverstone PS02B TBH as it is usally over £40 on Scan.

Also the Coolermaster Elite cases are decent for the price too.

The Scan Today Only offers will end by midday tomorrow.

Ok thanks is the psu you recommended Cat much better than the one pob suggested? Thinking of going for the 9800gt on ebuyer and the silverstone case looks nice.
