im interested in playing around with physicsX?
my idea so far is buying the cheapest possible physicsX compliant card and adding it to my system as a dedicated physics card. Ignore the fact i curently have a ati card as i got a friend who i can trade for a nvidia card, this is more off testing out a dedicated video card idea.
just few questions,
1) whats the cheapest vid card can i buy for this?
2) is it worth it? taking curiosity in to account
The cheapest new GPU you could buy for PhysX is probably a 9500GT, although if you don't mind used then 8600GT are pretty cheap now and they are the lowest 8series that support PhysX.
Worth it? For gaming, not really, although it depends on the games you play. If you just wanna play and have a spare £20-£30 then yeah, why not.
Adding cards that use PCI-E bus power can be a problem btw, cos it saps power from the more powerful cards bus. So getting an 8800GT or a 9600GT or something like that would be a good idea (a card that uses auxiliary power)

if i have one off these (only the 512 version) or another gainward 8600gt 1gb cards then i dont need to buy anything?
i can just stick those in? i havent tried it as im in york and they are back at my home in swansea

Yep and the 512version will be fine, however if you swap out your main ati card for an nvidia one then you don't actually need a seperate card at all.
you will have some graphics performance hit from physx but it does work.
I can happly run a couple of games that use physx on my 9800gtx (ie just that an nothing else) at 1680x1050, but it does of course depend on the game and graphical settings.
