    video editing graphics card

i am building a video editing pc with i7 6gb ram win7. Just need advice on graphics card. Currently i am thinking about using a ati 4350 512mb ram for about £25. Will this be fine or am i better off using a 9600gt for £70. Cheaper the better for me but if it adds enough extra performance to make it worth it. Thanks

    Re: video editing graphics card

Unless the apps you are using for video editing and encoding have been optimised for stream processing the graphics card won't really effect the speed.

What software are you using? The Adobe CS4 collection has GPU acceleration in parts, but this is going to be extended in CS5. AMD worked with Adobe on parts, there is also CUDA acceleration for nVidia cards.

My desktop (specs to the left) does a pretty good job of editing 720p video in Premier Pro. Will be doing some 1080p stuff soon which i'm looking forward to.

    Re: video editing graphics card

i will be using premiere elements. I think it supports cuda but i am not sure how much benefit i will get spending an extra £50. All i really need as a cheap dual headed graphics card that will work fine for win7. Thanks
