    Mix n Match ATi & Nvidia - 3 Display

So, got my replacement Nvidia card, and have a cheapo HD4670 currently installed whilst I waited.

Curiosity now makes me wonder about using both cards to get three displays running.

I've read on here that Windows 7 should support this, and I'm aware from my Abit AB9 QuadGT motherboard that I've got 2 x PCI-E slots.

I appreciate the 2nd slot runs at a reduced rate, but would this be enough to for a 22" 1680x1050 (or a 19" 1280x1024) display?

Would this in fact work at all?

If all you're doing a running an extended desktop over 3 monitors, then it should be fine under windows 7
You really don't need anything much in terms a graphics power just to run a desktop.

If you're looking at gaming over multiple monitors that's different.

Just an extended desktop - just that I had the HD4670 whilst I awaited the RMA replacement.

If gaming then I trust game will use primary card/display?

well for just running two desktop monitors the 4670 is fine. you really don't need anything much, my otherhalf is still happly running her 1600x1200 monitor on my old fx5200 128mb agp card.
