Hi All
I am looking for a few opinions!!!
I have a pair of 280GTX graphics cards (as per sig)
Is now the time to sell and purchase a Ferni when they come out (or if)
OR
Hold onto the cards and purchase something later?

Well I assume they're no slouch if you've got them in SLI and the top end Fermi card, or the 5870 probably perform around the same if not marginally better than your two cards - for the GTX 480 at least.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
I run both cards in an Sli setup and they are both overclocked.
I agree they run everything but I am thinking 5970 or 480GTX
based on current rumour, a GTX480 is unlikely to be an upgrade from SLI overclocked GTX280s (although that is rumour not fact, ofc.). a 5970 would be a bit of an upgrade, but I'm not sure it's really worthwhile... I'd be inclined to wait another year and see what the next gen brings![]()
How you're not too disappointed if Charlie can be believed.
On paper Ferni looked like a good upgrade.
I have been looking at the price of second hand cards on the bay and thought I could sell at a good price.
Another vote for sticking with what you have. By the end of March there should be more facts rather than FUD to make an informed decision.
I think I will edge my bets, sell one card and run my system with only one card
As if one GPU tragically loosing it's partner isn't bad enough you're then going to us it to browse for it's own replacement part.
Sell them both. The risk of GPU suicide is too high.

If nVidia are already talking about a process refresh due in Q4 for Fermi before even getting the product out of the door, I'd have to agree with the sentiment here. Worst case scenario is that
1) Fermi paper launches at the end March
2) Takes a month to hit the etailers at prices that would make Donald Trump quiver
3) Takes another 3 months to filter through in reasonable quantities
4) Requires a small nuclear power plant to run
5) Requires the installation of military grade thermo shielded to prevent it melting your PC
6) Doesn't provide the bed wetting performance Rollo was under NDA not to quantify
Hopefully I'm wrong on all 6 counts. Hell, I'm still running with a 7800!!!
