    best card for £140

my old grpaics card has recently failed, so the kind chaps at ebuyer have given me a refund of £140. can't fault their RMA service, within a day of speakign to them they'd sorted out collection & 3 days later had processed a full refund on a 2 year old card

anyway, i now have £140 to spend on a new one....what would you recommend?

in case its relevant, will be putting it into an asus p5kpl/epu board with a C2D E7400 CPU & 4 gig RAM running Win 7 ultimate 64 bit
if it ain't broke...fix it till it is

Well, from an ATI point of view that's pretty much your choice of 5770. From NVidia it won't quite get you a GTX260, which means you'd be falling back to the GTS250.

Is it an actual cash refund, or a credit @ ebuyer? Scan have a Palit GTX260 @ £138 pre-order - you'd need to check with them about stocking levels / ETA though. Personally, I think I'd just go with the 5770 1GB of your choice...

its a credit, but i'm taking this as a sign that all the computers in my house need upgrading this means i'll be buying various bits & pieces so could easily use the credit for something else & get a card elsewhere

was giving some serious thought to the sapphire 5770 vapor-X at scan having read the hexus review. decent mid-range card and quiet too, can't knock that

+1 for the 5770. Runs quiet and is a beast with games. Oh and directx 11 keeps it slightly futureproof
