    ATI Catalyst 10.3a

It seems this brings decent performance gains for both HD4000 and HD5000 series graphics cards:

The HD5870 1GB has large performance gains with the latest drivers in certain games:

But will it fix the GSOD issue ? 10.2 didn't...

No ones bothered about these though ^ they wan't to know if they can actually benchmark to to see if there is any improvement without GSOD'ing.

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Well I am interested since I have an HD4000 series cards and there is a performance improvement with even these cards. Not everybody has GSOD issues and the newer drivers seem to improve performance.

If you want to know if the newer drivers solve the problem then there is only one way to find out. If it was another Nvidia "Big Bang" driver release everyone would be falling over saying how brilliant it is.

Anyway I think you should look at this thread:

It would be good to see if the performance of the HD5600 series and HD5700 series is improved by the newer drivers. The HD5800 series get far too much attention in reviews of newer Catalyst drivers.

13% still crashing ! Not a good number at all in a flagship product.

Maybe you should RMA your card if the new drivers don't help you. I remember that some of the initial HD4870 cards had hardware issues too.

Anyway this is not a thread on the reliability of the HD5870 though is it?? I suspect the problem is hardware more than software as some people seem to have no issues at all and others have loads of problems. Is the issue seen with newer production batches of the HD5870 1GB??

Perhaps you could start a poll on the reliability of the HD5800 series and whether the 10.3 drivers help in any way. It would be useful to know how many Hexus members have the GSOD issue with their graphics card. Perhaps if the age and make of the card were listed it would be helpful.

I am just informing folks around here of the new driver in case they have not realised that it may actually yield a decent performance boost. Many people with the older HD4800 series cards probably will not bother to change their drivers. I think that a 10% performance boost in DiRT 2 with an HD4800 series card is pretty large and it surprised me TBH.

Remember that there are many members on Hexus who still use HD4800 and HD5700 series cards.

Is this GSOD problem for people with stock GPUs because I get it when I slightly overclock my 5770. Is that normal? Pardon my ignorance lol

Apologies if you thought I was being aggressive. I certainly didn't mean it to be !
The 10.3's have had rave reviews all over, and ATi have assured me that they will fix the crashes, but I agree with you. It smells like a hardware issue, specifically something to do with the RAM from the symptoms I'm getting.

I'm just dreading the RMA process...I'll have no PC for however long it takes unless I lay out more cash to buy another card.

Well I don't know what the GSOD is, but recently since when im playing a game (almost everytime now) the screen will just go black and I will have to hard reboot, Alt Tab don't work, Ctrl Alt Delete don't work so I assume that is what I have?

That's it. Sometimes you get the grey stripes, but mostly it's a crash to a black screen requiring a hard reset. (I also get some other weird effects including green pixels/artifacts, flickering)
