Which GFX card upgrade?

Hi

Currently I have a Nvidia 280gtx and 24" monitor. I was wondering if it was worth upgrading and if so what to? Budget £300-£400


Currently the ATI 5870 as a fav at the moment.

I read that nvidia's new generation cards run hot and haven't got significant improvements over ATI cards.

So does the 5870 look like a good bet?

I'm guessing you're running at 1920*1080? I've got a 5770 and it seems to play most of the games I throw at it bar Crysis on max settings and a GTX280 is around 20%-25% better so I really don't think you need an upgrade yet that much.

I have a GTX 275 which is a touch slower than the 280, and I wouldn't bother upgrading to anything slower than a 5870 or a GTX 295. Anything else isn't a big enough jump in performance to justify the price.

Having said that, what game is it that you're struggling to play at settings you are happy with on your current card?

Keep it, dont bother. Theres nothing that would justify its upgrade cost.
