Which GPU?
Existing 8300GS PCI-E has died a death and need a replacment.
Scan are doing the 8400GS for £25 on Today Only and so are PC World.
Which would be the next GPU up from the 8400GS that we would see a considerable difference performance wise?
Max budget of £50.

Re: Which GPU?
I wonder if your 8300GS had one of the G86 cores affected by the faulty bumps??
If you want to do some gaming this card would be a good choice:

If you are not gaming I would get the Asus HD4350 on the Scan Today Only webpage for around £25:

Re: Which GPU?
Relatives friends PC.
There was screen corruption, took out the GPU and connected monitor to onboard graphics and it was fine, also tried a 8400GS (my spare card) and that was fine too.
I think they may do some gaming but not 100%. I told them about the 8400GS and they asked if any difference if they go for a better card. I told them it would cost twice as much - were going to check with their son and advise. I think the £50 is a very max budget :(

Re: Which GPU?
You will need to check what PSU it has. The 8800GS and the 9600GSO(both are exactly the same cards) need additional power in the form of a PCI-E power connector.
An HD4670 OTH is bus powered.
