Post Looking at new gfx, suggestions?

Right i'm looking at a new graphics card since my current 8800gt is getting on a bit and the Fan is starting to stop randomly, so I feel now is the time to move on.

I'm somewhat of an Nvidia fan, but ATIs 5000 series is very well priced.

Anyway i'm looking to spend around £130 to about £180. I Have an ASUS P5N-D nForce 750 mobo and Hiper 530W Black Type M SLI/Crossfire PSU. Whatever graphics card I get i'll be moving over to an i5/i7 rig when I can afford to lol.

    Any suggestions?

Oh also i'm currently running XP but might be soon moving over to Windows 7.

This HD4890 is worth a look at:

    http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Compo...ource=googleps

Otherwise you maybe able to get an HD5830 1GB:

Re: Looking at new gfx, suggestions?

CAT's HD4890 is a pretty good suggestion in that price range. Most reviews suggest the extra performance of the 5830 isn't worth the price premium over the HD5770, which would be a good option at the bottom of your range (but with lower performance than the HD4890). Another possibility would be a 216-core GTX260...

Re: Looking at new gfx, suggestions?

With the gtx260 being £30 more than the 5770 I don't really see that in the running atm, unless you can pick one up 2nd hand for closer to £100

cheap 4890 or 4870 are good, however they have been going fast.

Re: Looking at new gfx, suggestions?

    OMG where from!?
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
