cross roads
Hi I'm at a cross roads I've upgraded my pc to an i7 930/motherboard and memory I'm using my old coolmaster real power 1000W psu and I'm now looking for a new graphics card I'm currently running my old 7900 GTX BFG's cards in sli but they have a few issues with some of the new games such as Bad company 2.
Now I know nvidia just brought out some new cards but I'm not willing to pay such high prices and now find my self considering the ATI cards.
Is it worth waiting around a little for price drops or are the prices currently as good as it's going to get?
I did see their are some new ati cards coming out at 2gb but will that make any difference to prices?
Thanks for any input given.

Re: cross roads
Unless nvidia releases some mid range cards the area for price vs performance, which are the 5770 and 5850 (for new cards) is probably going to remain pretty static.
we might see the higher 5870 & 5970 drop slightly but only very slightly
EDIT: also be on the lookout for cheap 4870 or 4890

Re: cross roads
I was thinking of getting two of these http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?ProductId=31838 how much power will two of these use?
It says it recommends 500w psu min system requirements but not what the cards on their own need from what I can see.
I have a Real Power M1000 I think it should be more than enought but little unsure as it is around 2 or 3 years old.

Re: cross roads
Your PSU will be enough easily.
That's a really good choice you've got there!

Re: cross roads
Yep that will be fine and a very nice choise for crossfire :)
Your PSU will be more than fine, if anything it's still a bit overkill.
