Can anyone recommend a good graphics card for FPS games for about $100?
Hi,
my PC is about 3 year old and I'm finding the newest games out there, such as Battlefield Bad Company 2, Metro 2033, etc., is starting to choke in term of performance on my system. I need to bump the in-game resolution down and play in "low detail" to get a decent frame rate.
I was wondering, since I'm on a budget, I don't want to buy a completely new PC as it's still ok for what it does, what graphics card do you all recommend I replace with for my needs? My budget is about $100. I've read that just upgrading your graphics card can improve the performance in games, especially FPS.
Here are my PC specs:
-Intel Core 2 Duo 6600 @ 2.40Ghz
-2GB RAM
-Windows 7 64-bit
-nVidia 8800 GTS with 512MB RAM
Thanks in advance! :)

Not sure what will be a big upgrade from an 8800 for ~£60. Where do you live? USA or were you just saying $ for fun? Wouldn't another 2GB of RAM and perhaps a cooler for some overclocking be a better idea? A second 8800GTS?

No, I wasn't saying $ for fun - yes, North American pricing or 60GBP equivalent.
Yeah, another 2GB or RAM would be ok, too.
