32" LCD TV Recommendations
I'm looking to buy a 32" television for my dad's birthday on thursday, but I don't have much experience with televisions. So I was wondering whats the best one I can get for under £300?
Thanks in advance. :embarrassed:
Re: 32" LCD TV Recommendations
There is a huge selection between £250 and £300 on Richer Sounds.
I'm thinking about this Samsung at the moment: http://www.richersounds.com/product/...d/sams-p2470hd
Seems to be the cheapest 32" 1080p set around, This might not be a good thing, I've been meaning to ask the same question for a while now :)

Damn! really should pay more attention :)
my bad!
Re: 32" LCD TV Recommendations
If your going for a 1080p set try and see if the one your looking at supports 24Hz refresh rates otherwise some HD films will be really jumpy :(

I've had my LG 32LH300 since Wednesday and I'm really happy with it. The sound is solid, the picture quality as far as I'm concerned is excellent. The interface menu gets a big thumbs up, very user friendly, intuitive, very cleanly laid out with big icons so everything is readily understood and readable from 12ft away. The remote is also wonderfully simple and free of pointless buttons, feels very comfy and light in the hand.
One nice feature I liked was the ability to set pre-defined labels to the various inputs on the menu screen. For example I have an Xbox via scart (which i use for XBox media centre and DVD playback), HTPC and Freeview PVR unit all connected via various inputs. When I go to input selection menu it now says:
Scart 1 (DVD) = Xbox
AV1 (Set top box) = Freeview PVR
HDMI1 (PC) = Media PC
The bit in brackets is added by myself to remind my what connection is used for what device.
The built in freeview program guide is also very clear and userfriendly with various view modes. For example, timeline mode (common on many PVRs) or "now and next" mode, where it displays just the program currently on and the next for each channel (i.e. simplifed and removes clutter for easier reading). It also has "prompt" commands, so you can be prompted when a program is starting that you wanted to watch.
Overall an excellent image, excellent sound (very loud without rattle), excellent SD image quality, clean asthetics, full power off button, excellent remote, user interface and finally an easily accessible connections panel on the back without the need to attach a pointless plastic housing.
I can't fault this TV at all 10/10 from me.
If anyone is interested in interface pictures, screen images, or has any others questions about this TV let me know.
So yeah, had it 3 months or so now. Fantastic set. Unfortunately it's now £390 on amazon and the like, this is the cheapest I could find it on a quick search (although out of stock).

The LG 32LH3000 is currently at £350 from Currys/PCWorld/Dixons. Tomorrow is the last day of it being on offer though.
