5870 not working in one of my 2 main games, so how much should I sell it for?
Hope it's ok to post this here. :)
I bought a powercolor pcs+ 5870 and it's a nice card, runs everything great apart from of the two main MMO's I play, one Battleground Europe does not run with this card at all.
This isn't a discussion about the game and I've tried everything to get it working, it's a common problem.
I think I'm going to go back to my old nvidia card for now, my question though is how much do you reckon I'd get for the card? It's only about 10 days old (only used for 3 days), original box and all packaging, runs with no problems in all other games and I havn't even used the coupon to get dirt 2. :)
Re: 5870 not working in one of my 2 main games, so how much should I sell it for?
Is it the GSOD problem?
I've thought about selling my 5770 too but I'm not sure if people would buy a card that suffers from GSOD.

Should it work with the game? If so, then you'll have to sell it as faulty, so maybe £40? But better to return the card to the retailer for a full refund.
Re: 5870 not working in one of my 2 main games, so how much should I sell it for?
The card works fine with everything else, it's just the one game. There are posts on the forums about the problems. The fault for me is with the developers but I like the game so want to be able to play it.
It's not the GSOD problem, it just crashes or freezes in battleground europe, no problems in other games.
So in essence it's a fully working card just over a week old with about 6 hours use.
Re: 5870 not working in one of my 2 main games, so how much should I sell it for?
I'm pretty sure you can return it though can you not?
If you can't then as it ain't the GSOD problem, you should be able to get close to the normal second hand price (£250 I'm guessing or around there) as it doesn't work with that game only due to software related issues.
Perhaps even more as it is a fully working card as you say.
Re: 5870 not working in one of my 2 main games, so how much should I sell it for?
A faulty 5870 went for £100+ on ebay a month ago. It didn't even display anything.
Try and RMA, you're just loosing money but not trying to get a refund. Is the distance selling act like 12 or 14 where you can return stuff no questions asked?
Re: 5870 not working in one of my 2 main games, so how much should I sell it for?
I thought that only applies to goods that were unopened and unused though.
I still think he can at least try to get a refund as the good was not fit for purpose, obviously his claim could be rejected as they could blame it on the game company for not supporting the 5870 fully though...
Re: 5870 not working in one of my 2 main games, so how much should I sell it for?
The card is clearly not fit for purpose. It is a gaming graphics card and does not work on your games. Return it for a refund. Overclockers may try to say otherwise, but the law's on your side with this one.

Aye - overkill for this year only though. (based on pure guesswork)
Hmmmm - do you know how CF is affrected by different frequencies ? I assume it runs at the lowest clock of the two cards.
Re: 5870 not working in one of my 2 main games, so how much should I sell it for?
Well the 10.4 beta drivers I found on the web seem to stop crashing enough to make it playable. I only crashed once in 4 hours playtime, which is fine by me. :)
So maybe I should cancel my order for the 470 and keep this card.

The original thread topic was fine, as is asking for an opinion of value, but...
there is no buying or selling of items outside the Classified Section (100 posts required AND trust.Hexus registration) and certainly no suggestion or discussion of dubious or possible fraudulent practices to maintain a warranty on second hand goods.
