What should i use to clean my monitor ?
So my monitor (see side panel) has developed some smudges both from my hands and when I've tried to use a cloth to get rid of finger prints etc although it just seems to add to whatever is already there! Any tips for me guys - fluids, certain cloths etc ?
Cheers in advance.

What's the finish on the screen like?
For my dell screens I use VDU Screen Wipes (reviews do vary) and for my NEC which has a glass like surface, oddly enough, I use lense cleaner meant for eye glasses.
Both do the job very well, pretty sure we got both from a Betterware catalogue that came through the door.

In terms of cloth, just about anything, best is something which will not breakup or leave fibers behind and make sure it's clean, it's all too easy to have dirt or grease buildup in a cloth esp if it's been used for cleaning other things.
Cleaning grease off, plane washing up liquid (not fancy stuff, the basic green stuff)
Use a washing up sponge, new and clean, so no traces of grease or simular, get it wet, work a a little washing liquid into it and squeeze it out.
This should leave you with a slightly damp sponge, wipe over your screen with that, then wipe again with a clean dry cloth, to get rid of any water.
A shammy leather or glasses cleaning cloth works well, however again look in the kitchen cupboard, as thoes green dish cloths are very good for cleaning glass/monitor or tv screen. (just make sure it\'s a new one/not used before for washing up.
Or you can use windowlene or simular glass cleaner, the key is don\'t use too much liquid, less is better.
PS is the sponge has on of thoes green scouring pads on it, just don\'t use the scouring pad side on the monitor.

Well it isn't glass, so I'm guessing matte ?

Microfibre cloth and a tiny amount of water (Like Pob said).
Although I use them and they work fine for me, it's a bit hit and miss with screen wipes, some can be great, some can be awful.

Cheers guys, I'll report back with a smudge/finger print free screen hopefully :)

tesco sell a little rip off lcd cleaning kit which works really well. It 5 or 10 quid which is rediculous for what it is but it works. Its a wooden block with some fibre cloth attached and some fluid stuff.

lol, you just know that someone HAS done that
Re: What should i use to clean my monitor ?
I use this - a fiver from Maplins - I really rate it because the triangular gizmo gets right into the corners of the screens.
Re: What should i use to clean my monitor ?
as above i would recommend a microfibre cloth, like the ones you use to clean lenses and glasses. Most specsavers give them away for free

I use microfibre cloths from poundland you get 3 or 4 and I wet one and ring out as much water as I can till its almost dry and use that one to clean the screen and a completely dry one to finish off.
Always work a treat for me

Actually it has some merit as Saliva actually works quite well, it's combination of enzymes, disinfectants and antibacterial agents make spit a good mild cleanser.
Although we're talking about a clean mouth here and not that of an animal which licks it's own :censored:
Still the puppy pelt should make a good shammy leather substitute.
