New nvidia card drivers?
Hi,
i'm a bit wary of installing new drivers especially for a graphics card. The driver i'm using at the moment are 53.03 on win 98se. There are some new nvidia drivers out arent there and i was wondering what the best and safest way of installing the new drivers without mucking my system up. Thanks for any help on installing and removing old ones the safest possible(sorry i'm a bit of a noob) Thanks for any help

The way I always install new drivers is this (although I rarely change drivers - If it aint bork, don't fix it):
1. Uninstall the old drivers and possibly run something like Driver Cleaner.
2. Restart.
3. Install the new ones.
But like I said, I don't personally see the point in changing drivers, unless you're having problems.
Hope this helps
Mike

so your saying i download the new drivers whatever there called then uninstall the existing drivers from add/remove panel. Then restart and install new driver. Won't i have to into standard vga mode though? Oh and does anyone know if the new drivers show any improvement on the old 53.03 drivers Thanks

BTW, you really dont need to uninstall the old drivers in most cases.
If you're going from a recent driver to another recent driver.. like 53.03 to 56.72 you probably dont need to.
However, if you upgrade from some really old ones to newer ones... like I did a while back on my old back up system (I think 26.xx to 45.23) you need to uninstall and preferrably also use a driver cleaner afterwards. I didnt and I was getting Windows Protection Error... and could only boot in to safe mode. So I uninstalled, re-installed & was OK.
