New Stylish PC Monitor

Looking for a new PC monitor with a few requirements...


Needs to be about 24"
A resolution of 1080p (can be more but it will always be fed 1080p)
Be about £250 (the cheaper the better)
And needs to look good of course


When i first looked at the apple cinema display mainly for looks but they are very expensive and the dont support normally pc i belive.

24" 1080p (1900x1080) and do tilt, swivel, pivot, height adjustment. Both have HDMI, VGA and DVI + HDCP. The Samsung is typically £200 and the LG £178. Note there is an HS version of the samsung which is not quite the same - can't remember the details but think it has a slightly smaller screen 23.6" and possibly different connections.

Personally I'd go for the LG as it is supposed to be easier to assemble and I've been put off Samsungs by reports they buzz a lot - google "buzzing 2443BW" to see what I'm on about.

I'm after a 24" 1900x1200 monitor that pivots. Not having much luck. The only one I can find is the 2443BW and in the words of Radiohead, "it buzzes like a fridge, it's like a detuned radio". The hunt continues...

the BenQ only tilts. No pivot, height adjustment or rotation on the stand. I'd sooner pay the extra £13 and get the LG

The LG sounds good but looks a bit plain.

The samsung i'd probayl avoid because of the noise but the BenQ doesn't look to bad.

Why is it so hard though to find a monitor.

If only Apple's one worked with a normal pc and was a decent price.

I share your frustration. I'm having to look at the U2410 by Dell - it's IPS so should be good for a TV substitute too. Sadly it's double what I want to pay - and there seems to be a quality control lottery with it - some screens have colour imbalance issues. oh that amazon would suddenly issue me with £500 of discount.

I have a Dell 2408WFP here at work and it is awesome.....

It has DP/HDMI/DVI-I/DSub/Component/Composite and audio pass through...I currently have 2 different boxes hooked up and can easily switch between them.

DELL ST2410 - I find it very stylish and I bought mine for 140 on the dell website with free shipping. (24", 1080p, DVI, HDMI, D-sub, audio pass through)

I have an NEC monitor which is good, but some of thre new Acer monitors might be worth investigating.
