    Are dell refreshing the 3008?

I mean it would be quite nice to see a IPS variant!

    Anyone know?

The Apple 30" Studio Display uses an IPS panel AFAIK.

Re: Are dell refreshing the 3008?

Yes sorry I should have clarified, The 3008WFP is IPS, but its not E-IPS, which is the new kind afaik. At least when I saw one it had loverly blacks....

    I think apple 30" is just a AS-IPS, whilst the dell is a H-IPS.

The difference between E-IPS is marginal, but if I'm getting ready to buy a pair, then I really want to make sure I do my homework!

    (but thanks for the input!)

Re: Are dell refreshing the 3008?

I think that E-IPS panels allow cheaper monitors to be made as they can use a cheaper backlight. AFAIK, H-IPS is the best of the currently IPS technologies but a few of the monitors with an H-IPS panels did have some issues (I think it was more down to quality control although I could be wrong).
