It seems that a new 640 stream processor version of the HD5670 is being released:

If the price does remain the same then it should might actually be worth getting, IMHO only the 5770 and 5850 have been worth while getting.
Isn't that cooler on the Sapphire the really bad one??
A nice feather in their caps if they do this...
Completely the opposite of nvidias way of working![]()

Have to agree with most of the article's commenters that it should be branded a 5730 though... Then they could make the 5730 ~ £85, and bring the 5670 down to a sensible £50 - £75. I don't really care what they're going to call it if I'm still going to have to shell out £85 - £90 for it...
With them being able to improve a card, does this suggest they're yields have improved ?
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
They're not really improving the card though - they're chopping bits off the next core up. As I said, this really shouldn't be classed a 5670 - it's just a 5750 with an extra block of shaders fused off, so 5730 would be a much more sensible name...
It seems ATI have 4 cards with 640 stream processors:
1.)HD4830
2.)HD4770
3.)HD4730
4.)HD5670 second revision
No power connector, could this be single slot? That would interest me.
hmmm, the cards are single slot, but those cooling solutions look bulky to me. I suppose there's a chance we'll get customised ones with a single slot cooler - or maybe just grab a cooler off an original 4850?![]()
Without the PCIe cable and the extra shaders I imagine its not going to OC as well as it does now (ok its still not that fast).
40% increase in shaders is alot!
I think nV did it to get back the performance crown from the 4870 512 in the mid range.
In this case there does not seem anythingits competing against? perhaps better economy and just binning all the redwoods as the lower parts?
