Upgrade to DX11 - only go for a 5870 though surely ?
Would cost about 600 considering i would also need a waterblock :(
As with all new technology if your on the bleeding edge you will pay a premium for it. DX11 isn't worth the price premium yet. Let's see what the gave dev's have in store for us in the future.
If your graphics card still plays the games you want at a decent resolution then there is no need to change just for DX 11 functionality.
But thats the thing im worried about. With all the recent games coming out especially in autumn I doubt it will be able to cope. Especially when Im the type that has to have everything on high settings. Just wondering how much longer a 4870 X2 can last me .
Quite a while.
4870 X2 was roughly equivalent to a 5850, so two of them are roughly equivalent to a 5970.
At £100, that's far cheaper than the DX11 route. If you've got the PSU and cooling system to cope, why not?
Sorry i did mean 5870 above, not 5970 :D
I would say the 5870 is eqv. to the 4870x2 afaik.
Unless you are suffering slow down I would not bother atm; the next range of ATI may be out by the end of the year but without much competition from nV it might not happen ant time soon.
As mentioned above, does your 4870x2 slow down in games?
What res and gamesare you playing at present?
I'm pretty sure your gpu is more than capable of running every game. (I'm using a 9600gt which runs the games I play quite well.)
