    Is 1920x1080 overkill for a 22" monitor?

I've sent a Digimate 19" back as it was faulty on delivery & decided against another of that brand, I wasn't impressed by the build quality.

I'm looking at something close to £100 with a reasonable resolution, anything 19" or above.

Scan have a 21.5" Viewsonic VA2213VW which does 1920*1080 for £105 or an Acer for £113, is this going to be to pointless on a monitor of this size considering how small everything would end up being? Should I just stick with 1680x1050 which seems to be the norm for this size?

    Any recommendations?

    Cheers!

    Rob

Re: Is 1920x1080 overkill for a 22" monitor?

I'm using 1920 x 1080 on a 23" BenQ LED and it's perfect - I'm unsure how I ever did without and any other monitor/resolution now pales into insignificance.

You can of course make the display fonts/icons/etc bigger

Re: Is 1920x1080 overkill for a 22" monitor?

My Laptop runs 1680x1050 on a 15.4" screen, and that to me is a perfect size - everything else seems too big

That said, I ordered a Dell 23" 1920x1080 screen and I've been perfectly happy with it

I've just bought one of those Acer screen and its fantastic - and not that small. I have a larger , lower res screen as a secondary and the difference is absolutely night and day.

Well it seems it's not overkill then!

Will look for some screens but possibly go for the Acer as it comes so highly recommended

Given I'm looking forward to running 2048 x 1536 on a 22" (20" visible) CRT *hopefully* tomorrow evening, I'd be inclined to say no

2048x152 on a 23" is good, reduces the need for AA too .

Re: Is 1920x1080 overkill for a 22" monitor?

Well, I'd been considering getting the monitor anyway and running it at 16x12 @ something ridiculous like 85Hz, which would've been a good use of a single 8800GTX - but the opportunity to do 8800GTX SLI and whack the res up to 2048x1536 @ 75Hz was just too good to miss!!

Assuming the TNT driver doesn't nick this one, it should be arriving some time tomorrow. Not sure the wife's going to be too happy about having to take delivery though! Then again, I've got a job application to put in by Thursday, so the most taxing thing it's going to get used for the next couple of nights is Word...

I've got a VA2213w at work, never had any problems using it... don't find it particularly different to any other screens.

The 23" at home is beautiful though, as matty said

Another 2048x1152 @ 23" panel here, more pixels the better I say.

Surprised your Digimate wasn't any good. They may not be the highest quality in the world, but always seem quite usable. My son is delighted with his £160 DGM (=Digimate) 22" 1080p TV which is used as a 1920x1080 monitor and games console screen and for the money I am quite impressed.

1920x1080 is standard 16:9... there is nothing wrong with it. But 24 inch will look better with the resolution

Indeed, you just crank the DPI.
